I lift up my hands
I painted this tonight for my friend, Chris. He had successful brain surgery last month to remove a brain tumor. (I wrote a poem about it - “57 Staples.”) He is my friend that drew my name in graffiti style on a card for me last week. (You can see it a few posts before this one.) He has a lot of skill, and is an artful letterer.
He has been having a lot of pain in his right index finger. After testing, they are going to operate on the blood vessels in his wrist. The blood flow to the finger is very weak. I am praying that the surgery is successful, and that they can save his finger.
We are going to meet early at Starbucks in the morning, and talk for a while before he has to be at the hospital. I’ll give him the painting then, and I hope it’s an encouragement to him.
